Self-Propelled Diesel-Electric Hi-Brd™ 4

This Hi-BRD4 autonomous GPU is self-propelled making it ideal for operations that do not always have access to a tug but need to have the ability to easily walk the unit to the aircraft out on the ramp. This unique feature makes this eco-friendly 26 volt ground power unit simple and easy to manoeuvre on the ramp for shorter distances and yet it can still be towed over longer distances. Please note that there is a non self-propelled variant available.

The START PAC® Hi-BRD 4 combination GPU is equipped with eco-friendly diesel engine (3 cylinder, 23.5hp) and permanent magnet generator to provide you with up to 300 Amps of clean, continuous, no duty cycle power for running aircraft high draw systems, for training, maintenance or software download purposes. It enables maintenance to be carried out on various cockpit systems such as inverters, avionics, GPS and on board air conditioning.

This patent pending GPU is one of a select few that meet current Tier IV EPA emission standards. Compact and economical, this hybrid ground power unit consumes up to 75% less fuel than traditional equipment and runs far more quietly and efficiently. A simple, easy to use ignition key means that on the job training and operation is straightforward and smooth.

In order to be able to start any type of engine – including turbine engines on voltage sensitive aircraft – the unit comes as standard with our patent pending full 26V safe lithium-ion battery technology. These batteries are sealed, contain no liquid and will outlast standard lead batteries by a factor of two to three. They also do not suffer from any sulfation issues that will cause them to fail prematurely from being left sitting in a discharged state. Full 26V lead acid battery pack configuration is also available upon request.

The HI-BRD4 unit will allow your turbine engines to experience faster and cooler engine starts than with most ship’s aircraft batteries (the turbine is spooled to more revolutions per second before fuel is injected). Thus, turbine life will be extended because there is less stress on the starter and other engine components. This will preserve the aircraft’s costly batteries and help lower operating costs. When using your START PAC’s integrated power supply, you save the on-board battery for emergency use only. As a START PAC® secures all your engine starts, this unit will ensure that you have no downtime. The environmentally responsible, low VOC powder coating protects the case from wear, tear and poor weather conditions.
